1st Workshop / Naganuma Town
January 16, 2024 Earth Regeneration Journey 1st Workshop (Naganuma Town)
Associate Professor Kuniyuki Kobayashi of the Hokkaido University Graduate School of Agriculture gave a lecture entitled "Introduction to Regenerative Agriculture." He introduced examples of regenerative agriculture, which is currently being promoted in Europe and the United States.

1st Workshop / Naganuma Town
January 16-17, 2024 Journey to Regenerate the Earth The first workshop (Naganuma Town) From the second half of the first day to the second day, we will learn the basics of regenerative agriculture. Carbon cycle, nitrogen cycle, practicing regenerative agriculture, Nicole Masters' 5 M's (Mindset, Management, Microbes, Minerals, Organic Matter). Dr. Christine Jones will talk about the relationship between carbon and mycorrhizal fungi, nitrogen fixing bacteria, and quorum sensing. @Bookshelf Cafe Seals and Polar Bears

2nd Workshop (Online)
February 3, 2024 The 2nd Workshop of the Earth Regeneration Journey (online). The theme is cover crops. How to mix cover crops, the amount to mix, how to decide the seeding amount, the purpose, cover crops suitable for spring, cover crops suitable for autumn. An introductory workshop on cover crops, including nitrogen fixation, cold resistance, and drought resistance. A farmer who started using cover crops in Okhotsk for the first time last year will give a presentation on the details of his efforts.

3rd Workshop (Online)
February 10, 2024 The 3rd Workshop of My Regeneration Journey (online). The theme was the beginner's edition of grazing and cover crops. We learned about adaptive grazing, which estimates the appropriate amount of grass, decides on a pasture area, and manages it so that more than 50% is not eaten, which promotes subsequent grass regeneration. How to calculate the dry matter amount of grass. Why it is better not to eat more than 50%. The contents of the cover crop mix at Menno Village, etc.

4th Workshop (Online)
March 2, 2024 The 4th Workshop of My Regeneration Journey (online). The theme is cover crops and soil microbial diversity. We welcome Toru Ishii of Asahi Shimbun as a guest and look back on the microbial diversity of four years of cover crop practice in soil from Menno Village collected in October 2023, along with soil analysis.

5th Workshop (Online)
March 16, 2024 The 5th Workshop of the Earth Regeneration Journey (online). The theme is the ratio of fungi to bacteria (F:B ratio). The FB ratio of forests and the FB ratio of modern farmland. During this time of year when sheep are giving birth, how is the health of the soil caused by cover crops beginning to lead to the health of the sheep in Meno Village this year? Discussion with questions and comments from participants.

6th Workshop / Menno Village Naganuma
The 6th workshop was held at the long-awaited Menno Village on June 7-8, 2024. In addition to the members, researchers from Hokkaido University also participated. In addition to conducting 12 soil assessment in groups, we learned about cover crops and grazing sheep and cattle. In the evening, we had a social gathering, and the next day, we experienced the regeneration of the earth both indoors and in the field until noon.

7th Workshop / Oketo Town, Hokkaido
July 4, 2024, Okhotsk, Hokkaido. We visited the farm of Shingo Arima (who has been using cover crops for two years) from Oketo Town in Okhotsk, who started working on regenerative agriculture in 2023.

7th Workshop / Oketo Town, Hokkaido
July 4, 2024, Okhotsk, Hokkaido. We visited the farm of Satoshi Hironaka (with 2 years of experience in cover crops) from Okito Town in Okhotsk, who began working on regenerative agriculture in 2023.

7th Workshop / Bihoro Town, Hokkaido
July 4, 2024, Okhotsk, Hokkaido. We visited the farm of Hideki Ishida (who has been doing cover crops for two years) in Bihoro Town, Okhotsk, who started working on regenerative agriculture in 2023.

7th Workshop⁺ / Koshimizu Town, Hokkaido
July 5, 2024, the day after Okhotsk, Hokkaido. We visited Toru Wada, who is working on land regeneration agriculture and agroforestry lifestyle in Koshimizu Town. He made a no-tillage seeder out of junk farm machinery and successfully sowed adzuki beans and Taisho Kintoki in a rye field.

8th Workshop Practice Report Session
November 16-17, 2024, Okhotsk, Hokkaido. The final workshop of the first phase of the Earth Regeneration Journey was a practical report session held at the Okito Town Central Community Center in Okito Town on the first day, the 16th. Two farmers from Okito Town gave practical reports. On the second day, the 17th, we visited a cover crop field in the morning and learned about the importance of winter cover crops and how to grow them from Chuck Schembri of Understanding Ag. In the afternoon, we moved to the venue in Bihoro Town and held the second part of the practical report session, which ended the event.

8th Workshop / Oketo Town, Hokkaido
November 16-17, 2024, Okhotsk, Hokkaido. On the 17th, the second day of the final workshop of the first year of My Regeneration Journey, we visited Arima's cover crop field, where he had rented sheep for grazing for a month in Oketo Town, and learned about the importance of winter cover crops and how to grow them from Chuck Schembre of Understanding Ag.

8th Workshop / Bihoro Town, Hokkaido
November 16-17, 2024, Okhotsk, Hokkaido. On the 17th, the second day of the final workshop of the first year of My Regeneration Journey, we visited the cover crop fields in the morning and observed Ikehata's cover crops in Bihoro Town. Here, the Maoimix's jelly spring oats, radishes, hairy vetch, and flax sown on September 10th were still green and growing their roots. We are creating a test plot that will not be tilled until spring.

8th Workshop / Okhotsk, Hokkaido
November 17, 2024, Okhotsk, Hokkaido. We visited Hironaka's cover crop field in Oketo Town. Chuck Schembre of Understanding Ag taught us about the importance of winter cover crops and how to grow them, and how to manage them from fall to winter. We confirmed by the depth of the structure of aggregation that the plants are photosynthesizing and sending liquid carbon down to the roots even in winter.
Keep Living Roots in the Soil, Drive roots deeper, and Winder Cover Crop, it's so Powerful.
