The seventh workshop was held in Oketo and Bihoro towns in the Okhotsk region of Hokkaido for two days on July 3rd and 4th, 2024. This time, in addition to the members of My Regeneration Journey, we set up an invitation slot for members and invited many local farmers to participate as guests, so that more people could learn about soil health.

We had the opportunity to observe the members of Okhotsk, who have been working on RA for the past year and a half, as they tackled their second spring and summer cover crop. They mixed the currently available cover crop seeds in a balanced way while predicting their growth, and it was still a process of trial and error to see whether the seeds they wanted to grow first were ahead of the others, or whether some varieties were growing more vigorously than expected, but we felt that they were definitely making use of last year's experience.

Each member, who had actually tried it, explained to the participants how many species families to mix, and why it is better to mix more than two species from the same family.

In Oketo and Bihoro, about 20 local farmers participated and observed with great interest. We hope that experiencing the diversity of cover crops in the field will be a step towards improving the health of the soil.
