The cover crop seeds entered Tomakomai Port on August 9, 2024, and after a lengthy customs clearance process, finally arrived at the MAOI COVER SEED warehouse located in Menno Village Naganuma.

The seeds came from GREEN COVER, a cover crop seed company in Nebraska, USA, which also appears in the film "To Which We Belong" The photo above shows Raymond carrying out the Probox filled with seeds.
The photo below was taken as the ship left GREEN COVER's warehouse and headed to the port of California.

Starting in October 2022, through screenings of "To Which We Belong" being held all over Japan, we met people interested in agriculture and lifestyle, and felt the need for education to practice regenerative agriculture. We planned an educational project called "My Regeneration Journey" in the fall of 2023, and My Regeneration Journey began in the spring of 2024 with the 24 members of the first group who gathered there.
We learned about the concept of soil regeneration, practical management, and how to use cover crops online, and held workshops in Menno Village Naganuma in June and in Okhotsk's Oketo and Bihoro towns in July. In addition to our members, many farmers invited by our members and researchers in regeneration agriculture also participated. It was a meaningful workshop where we shared our efforts to make soil healthy with many people.
And what we needed going forward was cover crop seeds.

There are seeds of hairy vetch, sorghum, rye, oats, radish, mung beans, crotalaria, sunflower, flax, buckwheat, rapeseed, and perennial grasses. We mix and use a variety of these depending on the season and purpose.
We had planned to make a Summer Mix for the summer, but it took time to clear customs, so We made a Fall Mix this time. We also have plans to grow these species domestically in the future.
In the year 2024, the two pieces of the two wheels of regeneration agriculture, education and seeds, have come together and started to move. If you are interested, please join us on My Regeneration Journey to learn and put it into practice.
